Nonsensical drawing displaying no honest technical ability.

Speaking of art challenges. I fell of the horse. Stumbled off the path. Got lost. But I'll tell you one thing: I'm gonna keep on fighting. New target: aim to open the sketchbook and do a page. I will do one page a day as a method to place my art time in a better flavor, color, light in my mind. You know, to not dread it, but to accept it as a playful exploration. 'Cause sometimes I feel so beat down, I can't hardly lift one more thing. I want sketching to be a release, a joy, an adventure.

Red Pine Lake

This last weekend I went backpacking up to Red Pine Lake. The woods are beautiful there, and the temperature is ideal for hiking! I brought along some travel size watercolors for some nature painting, and voila!

Children's Book and Media Review, Illustration for August

Hey everybody! The above Illustration was made (par moi) for BYU's CBMR (Children's Book and Media Review). They are a superb source for reviews on all kinds of media aimed at kids. There are always a lot of current books, tv shows and websites under review. You can get the low down on everything happening at the kid scene, just read the review!

And how is the Art Challenge coming along? Well, for Thursday and Friday I only got in some work on a portfolio illustration I'm planning, so four pages total. Saturday two pages, and a good start on my helmet for comic con (Hawkgirl). Sunday a full 5 pages, though they were (mostly) from imagination. That would make my tally 11/20 sketchbook pages accomplished.

I can do better. I resolve to reach my goal of five pages a day this week, starting with today.
